His story
From entrepreneur to educator.
Dr. Baptiste's journey began not in a classroom but in the real world — running businesses across sports, retail, and food for over 30 years. He owned ten different ventures, experienced both major victories and profound setbacks, and along the way interviewed and hired hundreds of people.
After a quarter-century of entrepreneurial experience, he returned to academia to earn his doctoral degree — not to leave the business world behind, but to bring it into the classroom. He earned two doctorates: one in business, one in higher education leadership.
Teaching at universities including the University of Alabama, Grand Canyon University, Upper Iowa University, Florida Gulf Coast University, the University of North Carolina, and Michigan State University, he noticed the same gap everywhere: students with strong hard skills but no soft skills to back them up.
That observation became a mission. Becoming Employable is the result — a practical, experience-backed guide to the 20 soft skills that employers actually look for, written by someone who has sat on both sides of the hiring table.

The mission
Bridge the gap between education and the real world.
Most college curriculums teach theory. Employers need people who can communicate, collaborate, take responsibility, and add value from day one. Dr. Baptiste's mission is to give every student — regardless of background — the real-world business insights that put them in a better position when they're ready to launch their career.
"Life is worth living when it is purposeful and goal-oriented. I can assure you that you can be successful if you are willing to accept responsibility for your life."
